As Technology Experts in the world of software and electronic equipment, we have a responsibility to be aware of and consciously manage the ethical disposal of hardware.
We recently joined with http://freegeekvancouver.org to help manage the collection and reuse or ethical management of computer and electronic equipment for residence of Vancouver’s North Shore.
This is an important initiative that helps our community by ensuring the support of redistribution of older computer equipment to lower income homes. In the event that this gear cannot be reused, it is safely recycled through ethical channels. These steps reduce the amount of computer equipment destined for the shores of third world countries where workers’ life expectancies are severely reduced due to the toxic and fatally poisonous nature of handling the scrap materials extracted from Canada’s wasted electronic component parts.
